Is 42:1-4, 6-7
Ps 29:1-2, 3-4, 9-10
Acts 10:34-38
MT 3:13-17
Summary
John the Baptist, desert dweller, hermit, Old Testament
preacher, finds himself face to face with Christ and knows who He is.
In the changing moments of time the person of all history is right in
front of him. He is humbled by all means; but? Christ, son of God,
God Himself, the servant of and to all has comes to John the Baptist
knowing God?s will; He has himself baptized by John. What an ex-
ample of true humility.
Reflection
To be part of something bigger than myself but yet smaller and pri-
vate and personal is to be baptized into Christ. My baptism came
from a faraway land in the Middle East. Land of the Israelites, chosen
by God to be His own, through a line of these different people; from
father to son, the line of Jesus Christ. His baptism to take place at a
point of time by John the Baptist. Thus started and continued the
plan of salvation. To be saved. To follow Christ. Doing the same
thing as He did, to be baptized. A remarkable fact of the people be-
fore me, all over the world have done the same thing as I have and
those in the future will do the same. From all walks of life; rich, poor,
young and old will follow and step forward in history as Christ set His
example for us. It is a fine place to be, to stop, not hurry and say
thank you, to place my hand in yours God. It is good to be loved by
You. You came down to be with us. To walk and talk with us. Teach
us. Show us the way to life. To be saved. To be baptized; just like
