It was with great sadness that we learned this morning of the resignation of Bishop Gabino Zavala, the Auxiliary Bishop of the San Gabriel Region. Two letters have been sent by Archbishop Gomez to the Archdiocese, one concerning the resignation of Bishop Zavala and one announcing the appointment of Msgr. James Loughnane as the Episcopal Vicar (a priest who is designated to act in place of a Bishop) for the San Gabriel Region effective immediately.

Please keep Bishop Zavala and Archbishop Gomez, as well as those affected by this very sad news, in your prayers.
