We continue our diaconate journey on February 4, 2017 at Saint Anne Church and Shrine in Santa Monica. We will be meeting here for our next classes on the 18th of February as well. (Please click here to read all of our experiences of the bi-monthly Deacon formation classes)
All Candidate Couples in the St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Diaconate formation (that’s us!) have successfully completed their final interviews. The interview covered not only what we have learned in our past four and one half years of formation, the interview also included discussion about possible ministries that the candidate couples might be active in within their parish, what each saw as their individual strengths as well as areas for improvement. Jay was also requested to proclaim a gospel, provide a homily and bless a rosary. The interview was conducted by members of the formation staff, the retiring director of formation, Deacon Dave Estrada, the new director of formation, Deacon Brian Conroy, and Deacon Shane Cuda, Director of Deacons in Ministry.
Since we have all completed our final interview, during our class on the 4th all discussed some of the preparation for Ordination on June 10th. It is difficult to believe that between now and Ordination we have the Religious Education Congress, Lent, Easter and Pentecost, Call to Orders, which includes Mass and dinner with the Archbishop, and a weeklong retreat to prepare for Ordination.
Please remember those in the St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Diaconate class in your prayers we enter into our last few months of formation.
