Holy Family’s tutoring ministry at Dolores Mission is seeking volunteers who love children and can commit one half day a week to spend time with selected students at Dolores Mission School in East Los Angeles. Some of our tutors work with children in K-8th grades in reading and math. Some tutors are needed for library aides. This year we would like to have a library aide in the library 4 mornings a week and 2 aides in the library 2 afternoons from 2:30 to 4:30 pm during the after school program. Tutoring at Dolores Mission offers volunteers the opportunity to spend one-to-one time with a student and create a very special friendship. One additional perk is meeting and working with all our generous and committed tutors. We have a great group!
School begins August 15 but our first meeting will be sometime during the first week of September. We will begin tutoring for French the week after this meeting. Remember anyone working with Children in the Los Angeles Archdiocese, must be fingerprinted and go through the VIRTUS “Safeguard the Children” program for dates and locations, please go to www.virtusonline.org
If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information, please contact Mary Schimmoller, Holy Family Volunteer Coordinator, 626-403-6113 or by e-mail at mschimmoller@holyfamily.org. You may also want to read more about Holy Family ministries at Dolores Mission.
