Memorial of St. john Neumann, Bishop
I John 4:7-10
Psalm 72: 1-2, 3-4, 7-8
Mark 6: 34-44
Summary
In the first reading, John stresses that we recognize the magnitude of
love that God has for each of us. By His son, Jesus’ death on the cross
in forgiveness of our sins, God revealed the depth of His love for us.
Therefore, God asks us to share love with one another…and in so do-
ing, we honor Our Almighty Father!
The Responsorial Psalm emphasizes that God is fair and just. He,
therefore, is our ONLY judge in all of time. Additionally, the Lord will
have great mercy for the afflicted and the poor.
Finally, Mark shares the parable of the Loaves and Fishes. This lesson is
intended to send the message that God wants us to believe that mira-
cles can and will occur in accordance with His will. We must trust that
He will provide for us in our time of need. This faith in Him will in-
sure our safety and security in His unending love and care!
Reflection
The whole human race is blessed by Our Lord!
Through His son, the disciples, prophets and
saints that we have all come to know, God has
sent many a message of His unconditional love.
Through the Commandments, He provided a
moral compass for us all to know what is good
and right in His eyes. When our respective day
of judgment by our Almighty Father arrives, He,
and only He, will serve as our divine judge. We
are called to trust in this amazing love and believe that God will reveal
miracles in our lives according to His will. As our beloved Pope
