February 2021

Hello Fellow Disciples,

St. Joseph is the Patron of the Universal Church. Pope Francis has named this year to be a year honoring Joseph, the man, the father, and the caregiver of the Holy Family. With that same spirit, we, Holy Family’s Formation teams, are looking to be like Joseph: holy, courageous, tender, and obedient.

Our own call to holiness begins internally and spreads outwardly. We must deepen our own faith in order to better share it with others. We, at Holy Family, have many opportunities available for our response to the invitation to be more like St. Joseph. First and foremost, there are the weekly and daily celebrations of Mass, albeit virtual, yet nonetheless spiritually enriching. The Mass is the “source and summit” of our Catholic faith life. It nourishes and challenges us to live our faith in this world as we worship our God together as one family.

The Season of Lent is approaching quickly and we have two parish-wide opportunities you will want to put on your calendars:

On Ash Wednesday, February 17th, join us for Drive-Thru Ashes & More. This marks the beginning of a five-prong approach to a Lenten potpourri of possibilities:

  • A weekly gathering for ZOOM prayer and discussion
  • Weekly prayer guides for your domestic church for every age
  • Downloadable activities for everyone
  • A way to observe the call to service with creative ways of reaching out during a pandemic
  • A calendar of opportunities for prayer and enrichment

Our Parish Mission, with Fr. James Marchionda, OP, a Dominican Priest who describes himself as the Prior Provincial of the St. Albert the Great Province, musician, composer and itinerant preacher, who will be with us from February 22-24. Fr. Jim has spent 25 years celebrating parish missions. He will be embracing our parish theme of Faith, Hope and Love.

  • Monday, February 22, Faith:  The Living Saints of God
  • Tuesday, February 23, Hope:  In God I Trust
  • Wednesday, February 24, Love:  Becoming What We Pray

Fr. Jim will share his thoughts and invitation to the Mission at our Masses on Sunday, February 21st.
