Dear fellow-parishioners,

My name is Mary Schimmoller.  In October of 2021 I was blessed to become the Director of Holy Family’s Pastoral Care Ministry when Mary Ternan retired from this position after thirty years of loving service to our parish.  I coordinate the activities of the parishioners who minister to the elderly, the sick and the dying in our community.

We bring Church to our people who are unable to attend Mass. Our Priests and our Ministers bring a sense of connection through the sacraments – delivering weekly Eucharist to homes, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and retirement communities as well as anointing the sick.  This enables the elderly and the sick to feel a sense of belonging, bringing Faith, Love and Compassion to God’s children.

Eventually, all of us will be confronted with aging, illness, and the mystery of death. In these moments, we may experience vulnerability, fear and anxiety. Our ministers offer comfort through love, prayer and friendship.  We also bring Holy Family School children together with our elderly for art projects and holiday celebrations.

If you have a loved one or know of a parishioner who needs the services of Pastoral Care (Eucharist brought to the home) or if you have any interest in being a part of our special “Ministry of accompaniment”, please contact me by calling 626-403-6115 or emailing mschimmoller@holyfamily.org.

God bless you,

Mary Schimmoller,

Director of Pastoral Care
