March 2020
Dear Holy Family parishioners,
Through your prayers, gifts, and encouragement, Holy Family has continued to grow as a welcoming, spiritual home for young adults and young families in the past year. Amidst the trend of young people increasingly leaving organized religion in the United States, we as a parish community seek to listen to the Spirit’s call to respond creatively and courageously to the needs of young adults today.
Holy Family’s Trinity Young Adult Ministry (est. 2016) continues to explore new ways to support the parish in meeting the changing realities of our Church and society. We are young adults in our 20s, 30s, and 40s with a desire to see everyone who walks onto the parish campus feel welcomed and encouraged in their spiritual journeys. We partner with those who are “young-at-heart” to connect young adults to other ministries and aspects of our faith community so that we all might grow and serve together.
In the past year, we discerned and welcomed the election of five gifted young adults to serve on Trinity’s “Servants As Leaders Team” (S.A.L.T.) to grow in leadership and attend to the ministry’s needs. We launched a new weekly “Reflection and Sharing” program, in which young adults come together to learn and discuss topics related to living as Christian disciples today. We also began to organize more casual, weekly meet ups at local coffee shops and restaurants to create a very open environment for fellowship and new connections (Trinity “Community Hours”).
Trinity partnered with the non-profit Christus Ministries to host the events “Beyond Survival Mode” and “Project Gratitude” to help young families explore how to grow together at Mass and at home. Looking at the year ahead, we hope to continue collaborating with others especially to better support young families and engaged/married couples in their journeys in Christ.
To get connected or support us as a volunteer, please contact me at yam@holyfamily.org or 626-403-6149. To financially support Trinity’s efforts, please visit the Holy Family Online Giving page at www.holyfamily.org. Your time, talent, and treasure are very needed and appreciated! Most important, please keep us in prayer as we listen to the Spirit’s invitations to accompany young adults today. We continue to keep the entire Holy Family community in our prayers.
Christ’s peace,
Marisa Moonilal
