Summary
How beautiful are the feet of those who bring the good news
! But
not everyone has heeded the good news; for Isaiah says,
Lord, who
has believed what was heard from us
? Thus faith comes from what
is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ.
Reflection
“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring the good news”?
When I first read this, I instantly think of Jesus, the Savior, who
first brought us the good news of our eternal salvation. Then, the
disciples come to mind and I am filled with emotion at how incred-
ibly brave they were during times of such persecution. I often ask
myself if I could have been as brave as they were.
After working in a parish, closely with various priests, I see now
more than ever how priests are people just like you and I. I never
spent too much time thinking about this growing up in the Catholic
Church and just assumed they were so very different than me and
my family. With this being said, I can’t tell you how much I ad-
mire their dedication and sacrifice all the more. At some point in
their lives, these men felt the Lord calling them to the priesthood,
just as the disciples felt a calling to fol-
low Jesus.
