teaching, to be accepted rather than to be analyzed. To be thought
of from a childlike approach to see this existence of the Holy Trini-
ty even if it defies adult scrutiny.
Continuing with this Gospel: Turning to the disciples in private He
said, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I say to you,
many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, but did not
see it, and to hear what you hear and did not hear it.”
This passage immediately reminds me of Jesus’ statement to Thom-
as: You have seen so you believe, blessed are those who have not
seen, but believe.
If we read and listen to the Gospels with the open faith of a child
we will be blessed with God’s message and we will believe even if
we have not seen.
Prayer
Dear Lord help me to be childlike when I listen to Your word and
provide for me the awe
to see it. Also give me
the innocence to ac-
cept it and childlike
faith to act on it.
