In the past few days, the construction company has begun their work—and what a delight it is to witness the care they’ve taken to protect the precious items within our church. Scaffolding now stretches from floor to ceiling as they begin the important task of strengthening our church to better withstand earthquakes.
Let us keep these workers in our prayers—for their safety and for a smooth transition as we celebrate Mass in our parish hall during this time of restoration.
The church retrofit project is set to begin on Monday, June 2nd. Starting that day, all Masses will be held in Connolly Parish Hall. The church will be completely closed until mid-August. If all goes as planned, the community will return to the church for weekend Masses beginning August 17th.
From mid-August through mid-November, weekday Masses will continue to take place in the hall, as work will still be ongoing during the week. By Thanksgiving, the church is expected to reopen fully for all liturgies.
Patience and flexibility during this time will be greatly appreciated. The good news is that Connolly Hall provides a beautiful worship space during the transition, and if needed, the Saint Joseph Center will also be available for Mass.
