A wedding is a day; a marriage is a lifetime.
For Catholics, marriage is more than a personal covenant; it is a sacred sacrament in which God is uniquely present in the lives of the couple, uniting them with Christ in a bond of faithful and loving commitment. The community of Holy Family warmly welcomes you as you prepare to consecrate your love for one another through the sacrament of matrimony.
Marriage Preparation Guidelines
To begin the marriage preparation process, call the Pastoral Center at (626) 799-8908 at least six months before the desired date of marriage, and make an appointment to meet with one of the priests.
Holy Family parishioners must be registered with the parish for at least six months before scheduling a meeting with a priest to arrange a wedding date.
Couples who are not registered at Holy Family are still welcome to celebrate their wedding here. However, both the bride and groom must first obtain a letter of permission from their own parish granting them permission to be married at Holy Family. This letter must be provided before an appointment can be scheduled with one of our priests.
Marriage preparation for non-registered couples must take place at their home parish, ideally with a priest who knows them personally. While they may celebrate their wedding at Holy Family, a wedding date cannot be guaranteed until six months prior to the desired date.
Please note that priority for wedding scheduling is given to registered parishioners of Holy Family.
Cana Gathering
Information meetings, known as Cana Gatherings, are held regularly. The wedding coordinator will notify you of the date, time, and location of the next meeting.
During this gathering, you will receive an information packet that outlines the steps for making your wedding arrangements. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss any special concerns or circumstances.
As part of the meeting, you will complete a questionnaire and be introduced to FOCCUS, a communication and relationship exercise designed to help couples prepare for marriage.
Please note that a wedding date cannot be scheduled until the couple has met with the priest, attended a Cana Gathering, and submitted all required documents, including the wedding fees.
