Christian Initiation for Children (Ages 7+)
This process is designed for unbaptized children, aged 7 and older, to enter the Church as fully initiated Catholics through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. The preparation typically spans one year and consists of four main components:
- Age-Appropriate Formation for Children
Children receive faith formation that is tailored to their age and level of understanding. This ensures that they grasp the core teachings of the Catholic faith in a way that resonates with their developmental stage. - Family Formation on Friday Evenings
Families participate in one-hour sessions on Friday evenings. These gatherings offer an opportunity for parents and children to grow in their faith together through shared learning experiences, prayer, and discussion. - Regular Attendance at 5:30 Mass
Children are expected to attend the 5:30 p.m. Mass regularly, encouraging them to experience the beauty and rhythm of the Catholic liturgy as a central part of their spiritual formation. - Family Faith Sharing at Home
Families are encouraged to read the Bible together and share their faith within the home. This regular practice helps children and their families reflect on the Gospel and integrate Catholic teachings into their daily lives.
Through lectionary-based instruction and facilitated discussions, both the children and their families are introduced to the fundamental concepts of Catholic liturgy, traditions, and beliefs. This preparation is designed to guide them toward receiving the sacraments of initiation—Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist—in a meaningful and spiritually enriching way.
