Mission Statement

The Sacristans at Holy Family Church seek to support the good order of all Eucharistic Celebrations.

About Sacristans
Sacristans are the homemakers of the church..  Our sacristans are zealous in their commitment to foster good worship here at Holy Family.  Sacristans are responsible for setting up the liturgical elements; these include vessels used for Eucharist, altar linens, candles, to name a few.  Sharing the responsibility for worship is also a part of the sacristans’ mission; to make children and adults comfortable with their roles, such as being an altar server or a Eucharistic Minister.  Sacristans may be of any age or either gender. They need to be fully initiated Catholics, meaning they need all three Initiation Sacraments: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.  We have a few part-time employed sacristans who serve Holy Family, we have several weekday volunteer sacristans, and we have some grammar school students who serve as sacristans for Holy Family School Masses.

Meetings
The Sacristans have meetings as needed. Headed by the Director of Liturgy, they usually gather before the special liturgical seasons: Advent and Christmastime, Lent, Triduum, and Easter.

Volunteer Ministry Opportunity
Although this is a part-time job for the sacristans, each one could benefit from the help of non-paid assistants.
