All of the readings today reflect on the power and glory of the Lord and the grace
of his son, Jesus. Each tells of how we are given strength and are blessed by
their love.
Reflection
I find incredible comfort in the words given to us here by Matthew:
Jesus said to the crowds:
'Come to me, all you labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart;
And you will find rest for yourselves.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.¯
There is something about this time of year that causes all kinds of stress: catch-
ing up with family and friends, shopping, cooking, etc. Things that give us great
pleasure and joy if we can just take a moment to embrace it. But it seems to also
get overwhelming ? trying to find the balance between what you want to do,
what you have to do, and what you can do.
As a corporate accountant, I also have the expected craziness that goes on dur-
ing the last few weeks of my company?s fiscal year ? budgeting for next year
and making sure our books are in order before they are closed. And then I let
even more worry slip in about our financial well-being ? mine, the company?s,
those around me struggling to make their way,
and all the way up to the economy as a whole.
And then I jump right into worrying about the
health of my loved ones. And on and on it
goes.
