Sister Joyce Rupp says, What a joy and blessing it is to know Benedictine sister, Macrina
Wiederkehr. We have given retreats
together and co-authored a book, The Circle of Life. I have
received so much inner growth from my years of friendship with this deeply
faith-filled woman.
Dear Friends,
Thank
you for visiting Holy Family’s website.
If you haven’t already, we hope you’ll be able to visit us in person
here in South Pasadena! At Holy Family, our mantra is “All Are Welcome”: we try our best to make sure that everyone who walks into our parish
feels that they have come to a place which embraces them.
It
is an exciting time in the life of Holy
Family Church. After several years of thoughtful planning, we
have transitioned to a collaborative lay model of parish leadership. It is an honor to have been appointed by
Cardinal Mahony on July 1st, 2009 as Holy Family’s Parish Life
Director. I look forward to continuing
to work collaboratively with our priests, Monsignor Clement Connolly, Fr. Jose
Parathanal, Fr. Niall O’Leary, and Fr. Tony Scannell, as well as with our lay
staff and parish leadership. To read more about Holy Family’s leadership transition,

We
are also planning for our Centennial Anniversary in 2010, when we will
celebrate our past as well as look ahead to our future. It will be a year of community festivities,
prayer and reflection during which we will lift up in gratitude all those who have
built up our wonderful parish. At the
same time, 2010 will see the release of our Strategic Plan which will guide the
growth of the parish for the next five years.
Our
100th Anniversary celebrations get underway with a Centennial Mass
on Sunday, January 31st at 12:45 p.m. concelebrated by Cardinal
Roger Mahony, Bishop Gabino Zavala, and Monsignor Connolly, as well as several of
our former and current priests. Please
check our website in January for the full calendar of Centennial events.
If
you come and visit us on a Sunday, take time to stop by the Welcome Center which
you will find in the Gathering Area after the 8:00 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11:15 a.m., and 12:45 p.m. Masses. Even if you can’t join us
in person, you can listen to a podcast of the gospel and homily at the 9:30
a.m. Sunday Mass by going to Podcasts. Or you can now watch the gospel and homily from Sunday Mass by clicking on Video Mass.
Whether
you live near or far, we hope that Holy Family can be part of your spiritual
journey!
Blessings,

Cambria Smith
